WastAway Aruba Buildings Near Completion, Equipment Installation Begins
The Selimar Office Building, located next to the site, is complete.Oranjestad, Aruba, June 1, 2009 – WastAway Aruba continues on schedule as the first international facility nears completion. Several important milestones have been achieved in the expedited workflow that involves a full list of special contractors on the ground including WastAway’s Bouldin and Lawson.
The Selimar Office building has been completed housing the administrative offices for the operators. The Process Building observed a “Highest Point” celebration on May 20th as the last of the structural steel was placed. To be sure the enclosure is finished on-time, two separate crews have been assigned to the Process Building finish-out. One crew will concentrate solely on installing the side panels and insulation while the other is in charge of installing all roof portion. It is expected that the Process Building will be fully enclosed by mid-June.
Work continues on the roof of the process building. Completion is expected by mid-June.Regardless of the lack of enclosures, the installation and assembly of the WastAway processing equipment has been in high gear. The Aruba weather has been very cooperative. As of the last week in May, seven different companies were conducting operations at the site preparing the buildings and installing the equipment. Bouldin and Lawson has had six employees at the site who joined the five Selimar employees who recently returned from two weeks of intense training at the WastAway Worldwide Training Center in Morrison, Tennessee.

The newly trained Selimar employees are working side-by-side with Bouldin and Lawson to complete the project. The pace and quality of equipment installation has exceed expectations. “The schedule of training and delivery of containers to the island could not have been timed better,” says Art Oxley, WastAway Project Manager for Bouldin and Lawson in Aruba. All containers have either arrived in port or have been delivered to the site. With just under two months till the opening of the WastAway Aruba facility, anticipation is building in the community both in Aruba and the United States.
WastAway Aruba continues to progress smoothly. The project is currently on schedule with operations set for mid-July 2009.
